Born, bred, buttered & currently residing in Ivory Park — kimetsu, is a serial music lover.

dabbling in both worlds of music production & DJing — Itumeleng Leso, eminently known with his anime-inspired moniker, kimetsu, uses these mediums to tell stories, least documented in a culture riddled with western influences.

having started out as a lo-fi producer, just as lockdown hit — kimetsu went on to attain eminence amongst his peers for his deep house productions, released under international record labels, Plus Plus Records (USA) & Insectorama(Germany) respectively through compilations.

with this newly found, cult-like following that kimetsu had now gathered, in 2021 — kimetsu decided to drop the more synth-heavy approach to his productions & adopt a tribal-sounding perspective to his music, which ultimately led to a distinct, distinguishable kimetsu signature, one that'll be surely experienced throughout this mix

it was also around this time that he'd also learnt how to DJ, getting much needed assistance from his DJing friends + peers, getting booked mostly for deep house sets.

his influences stem from a salad of musical tastes — from having his dad playing jazz, exclusively on Sundays, a mother that kept + played records by Thandiswa Mazwai & Busi Mhlongo during gatherings, friends that gathered House Afrika compilations on CD to having friends that sounded a bit more eloquent, introducing him to rap.

these are all evident in his productions as there's something for someone to clinch on to + identify.

kimetsu is slowly allowing himself to work with other artists — an allowance for creative growth, especially in the visual realm & this is most evidence with his most recent release, cimeza!, where he features Lethabo Mathele, an incredible writer, spoken-word artist & illustrator who paints a picture, literally, on senses beyond the physical!

kimetsu is currently working on his debut extended play project, trances of solitude, which focus on themes of death, love & indifference amongst others — set to drop hopefully before end of year.
